Wilshire Boulevard Temple is fortunate to find a wealth of talented and dedicated lay leadership among its congregants. As we envision the renaissance of our historic Temple Campus, their time and talent will be vital to our success. We are pleased to announce the appointment of a Building Committee that has been working closely with Brenda Levin:
Bill Ehrlich, Chair: A real estate developer and former Temple Trustee, Bill Ehrlich has been involved with the project from its earliest conceptual phase to the present. He has devoted hours each week as an advisor to Executive Director Howard Kaplan, and the Board of Trustees.
Robert S. Harris, FAIA, DP-ACSA: Longtime congregant, Bob Harris, is Professor Emeritus of Architecture at the University of Southern California, where he served as Dean of the School of Architecture from 1981-1992, and since 1992, first as Director of the USC Graduate Programs in Architecture and currently in a similar role for Graduate Landscape Architecture Studies.
Matthew Levy: A congregant who grew up at Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Matthew Levy works for Frost/Chaddock, LLC - a developer of luxurious residential, retail and mixed-use projects in the Los Angeles area.
Arnold Nelson: A Temple member for more than 30 years, Arnie Nelson ran his own engineering contracting company for 40 years until 2003, when he joined the Lennar Corporation, one of the nation's leading builders of quality homes.
Rick Powell: Temple Trustee and lead donor, businessman Rick Powell brings a wealth of diverse business experience to the project in addition to significant experience as a volunteer leader for a number of important area non-profit institutions.
Michael Schau: An architect by training, Schau has been a real estate investor and developer for 30 years, specializing in office and industrial parks in the Western U.S. and beyond.
Steve Sugerman: Trustee Steve Sugerman is the founder of Sugerman Communications Group, a public affairs and corporate communications consulting firm,
Carrie Sutkin: With a doctorate in urban planning and development studies from USC, Carrie Sutkin served for 15 years as a planning deputy for County Supervisor Gloria Molina. She is the founder of Urban Assessment Planners, a consulting firm that serves both public and private clients.
